What Kind of Inheritance?

This reading on motherhood and prenatal influences explains the results seen in Ezekiel 19.    And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him? Judges 13:12 .   The words spoken to the wife of Manoah contain a truth that the mothers of today would do well to study.   The child will be affected for good or for evil by the habits of the mother . She must herself be controlled by principle, and must practice temperance and self-denial, if she would seek the welfare of her child.   If before the birth of her child she is unstable, if she is selfish, peevish, and exacting, the disposition of her child will bear the marks of her wrong course.... But if she unswervingly adheres to the right, if she is kind, gentle, and unselfish, she will give her child these traits of character.   And fathers as well as mothers are involved in this responsibility. Both parents ...

Add to Your Faith

We are living in the perils of the last days. All heaven is inerested in the characters you are forming. Every provision has been made for you, that you should be a partaker of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Man is not left alone to conquer the powers of evil by his own feeble efforts. Help is at hand, and will be given every soul who really desires it. Angels of God, that ascend and descend the ladder that Jacob saw in vision, will help every soul who will climb even to the highest heaven. They are guarding the people of God, and watching how every step is taken. Those who climb the shining way will be rewarded; they will enter into the joy of their Lord. How completely gratifying is that thought! As I prepared to "pen" this blog post, I was pondering and praying as to how to start it. I knew what the topic was: Jacob's ladder and the ladder of grace (found in 2 Peter 1:5-7, but vv. 1-12 provide the bigger pict...

Taste, and See: Restoration

This blog has not been very active of late: my sincere apologies are extended. Sites like these are important in these last days; and we need to focused and ready. The PlugIn2God theme for 2013 is "Restored!". I have been focusing a lot on Daniel, Revelation, and health. (I also want to cover Genesis, the Ten Commandments, and Christian character.) God wants our bodies to be "living sacrifices", holy and acceptable to God: and Paul calls this "reasonable service". For all of the wonderful things that God has given us, we could at least give Him our health!  " 'I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.' God calls for a living sacrifice, not a dead or dying one. When we realize the requirements of God, we shall see that He requires us to be temperate in all things. The end of our creation is to glorify God in our bod...

True Sacrifice

Our lives are like a mirror: what we do reflects who we are. Our actions reveal our character. The first brothers of this earth’s history, for example, thought about obedience very differently from each other, and this is best seen in their different ways of sacrificing.           God required that each person kill a lamb upon an altar as a sacrifice for sin; for the wages (or cost) of sin is death, according to Romans 6:23. God would then accept the sacrifice as payment for the wrong that was done throughout the day. You see, God had a pattern: The lamb represented Jesus, who is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). Jesus came to earth and lived and died because He wanted to – he wanted to save us from sin. Hebrews 12 tells us that Jesus consider it a joy to die on the cross for us. He paid for our sins: he died so that we can live. We can see that in Romans 5:11 and Isaiah 53:4.     ...

The Power of a Testimony

"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death" (Revelation 12:11). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Everyone says that exercise is good for me. I mean me . Whenever I complain about exercising, people tell me, "Nope, you are wrong. It would do you well." It leaves me chagrined most of the time.  Today, however, I actually tried. I went and took the time to willingly take a simple walk on our hill. Do you know what the best part was? I can testify to the usefulness and value of exercise. Because I experienced it, it now has meaning for me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The principle of Christianity is the having of an experience. It is growing in grace. It is coming to a knowledge of our Lord and Savior. It is my  experience. "He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true"   (John 3:33). Testimonies are a significant form...

The Attitude of Righteousness

For my devotions last week, I read Isaiah 32. The first verse starts like this: "Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall reign in judgment." The chapter goes on to list all of the types of things that occur when righteousness is the key foundation: Provisions are made for hard times (v. 2) Spiritual attentiveness is maintained (v. 3) People change (v. 4) The exceeding sinfulness of sin is understood, and excuses stop being made (v. 5-7) Those who are generous ("liberal") receive generosities (v. 8) Then, a curse is pronounced upon the land: trouble and failure will exist until the Spirit is poured out . At that time, the land is returned to its fruitfulness and prosperity. Judgment -- or, the execution of justice -- the dwells in that land. The righteous people dwell in that land. What happens when righteousness dwells in that land? "The work of righteousness shall be peace : the effect of righteousness [is] quietness ...

Love Versus Lust

One who holds the elements of true love (based on 1 Corinthians 13 and 1 John 4) is: Patient Kind Non-envious  Humble Couth (not obnoxious or obsessed) Unselfish/Servile Even-tempered Pure-minded Righteous-loving Honest Unfearing Perfect (in God alone) Eternal God--  all good and perfect relationships of any sort include God Lust, my friend, is the opposite of these characteristics:  Impatience Meanness Envy/Competition Arrogance Obsession Selfishness Bad Temper Lewd Mind Love of Wrong-doing Deceit Fear Imperfection/Self-consciousness Temporary No Divine Strength
