Let's Define Freedom (#Dressemeber2019)

There is a certain freedom that comes with knowing your identity. Even Jesus, when He was entering the final great conflict of His earthly life, found peace and assurance in His identity. In fact, it was this knowledge which precipitated service for others (John 13:3-4).

When I look back on my life, I realize that this ministry started because this little girl was trying to find out who she was. She wanted to be free from the pain of criticism and ostracism. She wanted to be free to be herself, to pursue her interests, to live life to the fullest. So she chose to ground her identity in Christ.

I still struggle with really being me: defying that illusive conception built only by others' limited impressions of who I am. Honestly, this struggle has hampered my existence. Instead of enjoying life, I had come to resent it. But by God's grace, I can be the most complete and beautiful Gabrielle that God has intended for me to be.

With such a firm grasp of who I am, I can now serve others. The second great commandment is to love my neighbor as myself. If I loathe myself, why would I care about others? If I have not yet experienced freedom, how will I notice others in bondage?

One way that I would like to serve this month is by raising awareness about human trafficking. Whether or not we want to open our eyes to this reality, it is a real issue. By myself, I cannot go and rescue a human slave; I cannot conduct a rally or influence legislature. But I can wear a dress. For the rest of December 2019, I will wear a dress to represent those who have not yet found the freedom to be the woman (or man) that God designed them to be. If you want to support me in this, you can donate to help empower, rescue, or rehabilitate these children of God and allow them to experience true freedom.

Listen to the Father speaking:
"I will say to the north, 'Give up;' and to the south, 'Keep not back:' bring My sons from far, and My daughters from the ends of the earth; even every one that is called by My name: for I have created him for My glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him" (Isaiah 43:6-7).

Looking for Me

In family worship, we have reading from the book of Ezekiel. There are a lot of deep and awesome truths found in that book, some of which unlock other controversies that we have yet to understand. Throughout the coming weeks, I will write about the book of Ezekiel based on various points my family members bring out each night. I pray that you will blessed.   I was lost, but now am found. But who found me? Who was looking for me? "For thus saith the Lord God; 'Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.' " (Ezekiel 34:11) And why does He want to find me ? "As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out My sheep , and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day." (Ezekiel 34:12) And as my favorite Scripture says, "I have called you by your name; you are Mine " (Isaiah 43:1). The Cloudy and Dark Day It i...

Remember the Titans: Remember the Leaders

In life, there is a need for leaders—persons who will take up responsibility and be the trendsetters that others can follow. As Reed Markham, PhD, stated, “ Successful leaders see the opportunity in every difficulty rather than the difficulty in every opportunity”. “Remember the Titans” is an inspiring movie that teaches the truth about leadership and positive influence.      Among the many examples of leadership portrayed in this movie is Gerry Bertier, captain of the TC Williams football team. Gerry showed qualities of leadership by taking charge and following through with his responsibility. One of the ways he did this was by dropping Ray, his best friend, from the team due to the fact that Ray was not playing defensively on behalf of his Negro teammates, which resulted in the injury of one of them. Even though this decision threatened his friendship with Ray, Gerry still fulfilled his responsibility. Another quality of leadership Gerry shows i...

Do You Know God?

Is it not peculiar to ask a Christian if he knows God? So why am I asking that on this a Christian blog? I want to present a challenge to you, and I hope that you will take it.  One day in the very near future, all will see God in all of His glory. Those who have beheld Him by faith will soon behold Him face to face. Those who have rejected Him will be slain by the brightness of His coming, as they are unaccustomed to His glory. Now here's the challenge: Prove God. Some of you have decided that you don't need to take God seriously. That's okay. That comes with age - choosing which concepts stay and which go. But there is a responsibility that comes with this brain sorting. You have an obligation to seriously evaluate everything that stays and everything that goes. I will not promise you that you will accept or reject Christianity; I can only promise you that you will be able to make an informed decision. And you will certainly come to know God. Just t...
